Workshops

Calling all local herbalists and holistic teachers! We encourage proposals from everyone (new and familiar faces alike) on topics pertaining to herbs and gardening, geared towards all levels of herbal skill, and all age groups. Based on feedback from past event participants, we highly encourage sessions that are hands on, and/or "make and take" opportunities.

Medicine Woods ID (Plant Walk)

with Jan Hibbard from the Mt. Kearsarge Indian Museum. We will identify plants and discuss Native uses for them.

Make your own Upcycled Native Plant Notebook with artist Daisy Hebb. Open to all ages as long as a responsible entity is available to help those who need assistance. Attendees will select spiral-punched pages for their personal notebooks and stack the pages with the spiral holes lined up to coil the spiral through. Pages are ‘upcycled.’ That is to say, they’re expired or seconds from Green Blossom Painting’s beautiful array of informative native plant, pollinator, and herb watercolors which will be spiral-punched and given a new life as notebooks. Cost is free, though there’s a donation jar for anyone wanting to make more than one. This is a great project for young, advanced, and growing weeds and wonderful exercise in practicing our AIM FOR ZERO WASTE.

Unlocking the Potential of a ¼-Acre with Permaculture Methodology

Discover how a 7,000± square foot garden area can support over 240 varieties of perennial, self-seeding, and annual plants—including vegetables, flowers, herbs, fruits, shrubs, trees, grasses, ferns, mushrooms, and more. This workshop will walk you through a sustainable garden design that incorporates permaculture principles, such as companion planting, microclimates, and no-till soil preparation. Learn about the use of creative techniques like spiral herb gardens; gutter irrigation; lasagna, hügelkultur, worm bins, and mounded composting; as well as the application of various mulches. The result? A low-maintenance garden that requires minimal weeding, watering, and pest control—without the need for gas-powered equipment—while providing an abundance of food and constant blooms. You’ll also see the integration of meandering paths made of brick, stone, moss, and eco-grass for both beauty and functionality. Participants can sign up for referenced materials, view garden plans, see a slide show, and peruse recommended books to inspire your own ecological garden design.

Don’t get lost in the weeds – learn how to source and use CBD effectively.

The Magic of Scent

with Wendy Fogg of Misty Meadows. Scent plays an important and powerful role in our lives. We make choices about everything from food to life partners based largely on how they smell. We’re more likely to shop in stores whose aromas appeal to our limbic recall. Memory is frequently triggered by smells. In this workshop, your sense of smell will take a fun, intriguing and surprising walk through the world of scent as you explore a variety of both essential oils and fragrance oils. You will learn about the safe and ethical use of essential oils. Each participant will take home a fragrant blend of their choosing.

Cycles of Life Like sunflowers, which chase the sun as it moves through the sky during the day, our hormones dance to the beat of the circadian cycle, orchestrated by light and darkness. Join me to learn about the complicated dance steps of your body’s life process: sleep, metabolism, and the reproductive system work like wheels in a large engine that drives life. It is where science and magic come together.

Cycles of Self Care

We live in a culture that often glorifies self care that looks like fancy spa treatments, yoga retreats or hour long bubble baths. Let’s be honest. Not everyone has the time & means for those types of “self care”. AND everyone’s idea of self care is different & will change throughout our lives based on lifestyle, family & workload. This workshop will touch upon herbal self care practices-some that are simple yet profound, others that are essential, yet often forgotten. Simple practices for when you might be practicing your “ Netflix self care time” or even when you only have 5 minutes to pee & hide from your kids in the bathroom. From nourishing teas, elixirs, massage oils & herbs in the kitchen to essences & aromatics-this workshop will look at the spectrum of self care with herbs & honoring the cycle of life you are presently in. Participants will leave with a self care potion they’ll craft themselves to take home.
